I'm walking in the moonlight after a long day.
I feel exhausted and guilty as I wonder, "What did I accomplish today?"
I beat myself for not DOING more...for wasting my time and for always feeling behind.
Somehow my to-do list is longer than when the day began.
As I look up at the stars, the brightness of Venus fills my heart with hope and I wonder why I'm doing this.
Where did I learn to measure the value of my life by my accomplishments?
A new thought pops into my mind an instead of asking myself, "What did I get done today?", I ask a more soulful question...
"How have I been of service today?"
Suddenly, the starlight illuminates something I had not seen before and the tasks I had done throughout the day feel more empowered, light, expansive.
These tasks become more than words to cross off my to-list because these actions made a difference for others.
In that moment, they made a difference to me too,... energizing me and giving me a new frame of reference that was purposeful and joyful.
Some of these to-do's were obviously of service...like helping the women in my mastermind to see beyond their shadows and claim their gifts, or helping our son organize his day.
But others were surprising...
Like the text I finally sent to a teacher to thank her for her patience during this big transition. This at first felt like a simple task that I needed to cross off my list. But after receiving her heartfelt response, I knew it gave her hope and encouragement because she was also feeling overwhelmed.
This simple act of asking soulful questions...questions that come from our expanded, Mythic Self...is profound.
As we all move forward on this threshold of creating a new world, we have an opportunity to do things differently and to really examine whether our beliefs and values are sourced from our higher, Mythic Self.
So I invite you to think about the questions you ask yourself and to consider starting and ending your day with these inquiries,
How can I be of service today?
How have I been of service today?
The answers, and the lightness in your heart, might surprise you!
This is how we "mother" ourselves with thoughtful intention, and this is how we birth new ways of being...
...and even how we birth a new world.
Healing our relationship to Mother Earth and the Mother within is key to creating a new world that aligns with our soul voice and values.
As we approach Mother's Day this Sunday in the US, this feels like a timely reminder to connect with the Mother's gifts of unconditional love, nourishment and self-care...to mother ourselves and our planet.
Wishing you and yours a happy and soulful Mother's Day!
