Recently, I shared a story about the moment I finally stepped out of the priestess "spiritual closet" while visiting the ancient ruins in Tulum in 2019.
However, the seed of that moment was planted long before in 2014, when I was diagnosed with melanoma, a very serious skin cancer.
That was my dark night of the soul and I wrote about it in a chapter called "Voices In The Moonlight" in the book "Sacred Body Wisdom."
"Lost in the fear of death and feelings of betrayal, I disconnected from my body....At home, I walked through everyday moments in a frozen numbness, too afraid to feel, too scared to slip into the darkness once more.
My robotic mantra was "Wake up. Tidy the house. Help the kids with homework. Cook. Bathe. Sleep. Repeat."
My body became a "vessel of doing," no longer the "vessel of my being."
I was petrified to inhabit her intimately again. I didn't trust her."
I had the cancer removed, but felt joyless as the new year began.
I didn't allow myself to feel anything, so I turned to my 6th sense (intuition) and asked for a sign to guide me out of this place of terrifying darkness.
I saw myself at the beginning of the year as a woman in a cave slowly peeking out from a large boulder.
It was the headdress of the moon goddess, Ixchel.
At the time, I didn't understand it, but I knew that my Mythic Essence could see far more than my limiting mind and fear would allow.
That year was one of my most challenging.
I didn't find my joy again until the summer, and I did it by trusting in my intuition, embodying the archetypes that supported me daily and looking for all the ways the Divine was wanting to help me.
And by Halloween that year, I dressed as a Moon Goddess in honor of Ixchel, and 5 years later I was finally able to visit her temple on Isla Mujeres.
At her temple on the tip of the island, I prayed in gratitude for all that had happened in the last 5 years.

My dark night of the soul helped me reconnect to the sacred vessel of my body and to divinity within and all around me.
- It led to my chapter "Voices In the Moonlight".
- It led to my download of the 4 Lunar Archetypes and the Moon Cycle Power Path and how these tools can help us reclaim our innate feminine rhythm.
- It led to invitations to speak on podcasts and online summits, about lunar living, intuition, and archetypes.
- It led me to Isla Mujeres and the temple of Ixchel.
- It led me to create The Cosmic Creatrix Journey.
